Running is probably the best endurance sport you could ever do, and it is not all physical. While the physical ability definitely has to be there, the adage has always been running is 10% physical and 90% mental. The percentage of that statistic may not be completely accurate, it is a true statement running takes mental energy. Runners are a unique breed in that they will push themselves past the breaking point of exhaustion. When the exhaustion sets in, the mental endurance takes over and it becomes mind over matter. Many marathon runners have to focus to finish the race and prefer to use Timex Heart Rate Monitors. When the body gives in, the mind takes over. The great thing about endurance is it can be growing, just like your physical strength in running improves over time, so does your endurance. As you continue to run, you will develop a stronger stamina, making the sport easier and more enjoyable.
