Job Description Summary/Essential Duties:
A blended position between a PC Specialist and an audio/video technician provides assistance, information and other support services for faculty in the use of computer-based classroom technology and related software. Classroom technology and software may include presentation stations, computers, data projectors, visual presenters, scanners, VCRs, digital cameras, digital video cameras, Tegrity systems, various presentation software applications, and digital imaging and editing software. Responds to and resolves immediate, class time technology emergencies. Acts as a technical resource to faculty and staff in the use of classroom technology. Monitors performance and fine tunes classroom technology equipment on a regular basis and performs routine maintenance. Refers classroom technology problems to College Computing Services and/or Media Services when necessary, tracks problem through resolution, and communications status to the appropriate staff. Conducts faculty orientation to classroom technology through group or individual training sessions. Produces documentation related to the use of classroom technology which may include instruction sheets and troubleshooting guides. Assists in the needs assessment, testing and evaluation of new technologies. Maintains utilization statistics and an inventory of classroom technology equipment. May provide assistance to faculty in a technology training lab. May hire, train and supervise student assistant or other part-time staff. Responsible for providing quality customer service as appropriate to the position.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer information systems or a related area plus one year of experience in an educational technology or digital
media related field or Associate's degree in computer information systems or a related area plus three years of experience in an educational
technology or digital media related field. Considerable skill in installing, configuring and troubleshooting hardware and software such as
presentation stations, computers, data projectors, visual presenters, VCRs, scanners, digital cameras, digital video cameras, Tegrity
systems, presentation software, digital imaging and editing software. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills along with a strong
customer services orientation required. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Official transcripts
will be required. *May be subject to a criminal background check prior to employment with the
District.*
Physical Demands:
May be required to lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 50
pounds.
